Cost of a Custom-Made Gown

Dressmaker Fee + Cost of Materials = Total Cost of Gown

A custom-made gown is a wonderful luxury. Because of the hand stitching, multiple fittings, and personalized approach that I take to my work, a custom-made gown from The White Bow is similar in price to a high-end storebought gown. My fee for a basic bridal gown starts at $1,000. Add the cost of materials, and a simple gown in a moderately priced silk would start at $1,600.

Quality and Exclusivity

In consultation with me, you will be able to choose the fabrics and laces you want, the silhouette that flatters you most, and the embellishments that make you feel beautiful. You will have a chance to review your design in muslin fittings (toile) before your silk is cut, to make sure that you are pleased with the design you have chosen. The fit is customized to your figure, and all the details are attended to with care. Your gown will be elegant and beautifully made.

Because your gown will be created specifically for you, using the finest dressmaking techniques, it will represent many hours of skilled labor. I employ numerous hand techniques in my sewing, including

  • hand-stitched invisible hems
  • hand-overcast seam allowances
  • cut, shaped, and invisibly appliqued lace
  • hand-tacked bias bindings
  • hand-picked zippers
  • handmade bows and flowers
The result is a quality and fit that you cannot find in a store-bought gown, and the assurance that your gown is as unique as you are.

I can provide a more specific estimate for the total cost of your gown once you and I have met and discussed your ideas in detail. For your consultation, call The White Bow at (408) 530-1777 to schedule your appointment, or contact me through email.
